Review:

Eboy has a new website built will CSS and web standards! Isnt it wonderful to see big names in the design world adapt to standards? I have always loved eboy and their pixel craze. Their new site is unique and playful, but eboy is all about their absolutely lovely pixelated illustrations. I could spend hours in their archive drooling over their detailed work. The code is not pretty, but its almost there - just add some alt tags, clean up some mess and close the BRs. A must-see!

I love this site... and the pixel art.

Have to admit, I have never been to eboy.com, and to be honest, from a design POV, wasn't too impressed, regardless of whether it is standards compliance. The site seems to have no solid organization to it. Just my opinion.

Bryan, if you are speaking from a design POV, why are you talking about standards and site organization? Eboy are some of the most respected graphic artists in the world. I respect your opinion if you are not impressed, but if you intend to talk about design, then lets hear why you are not impressed. From a design POV.

it looks like another of those occasions where the developer just doesn't "get" standards. it's not enough to just change ever table cell to a div.

Great pixel art, but layout could have been rethought.

eboy are one of the greatest pixel artists, but in a "stylegala context", their site isn't that impressive.

Antonio, yes it is that impressive. I think their site is great. Refreshingly unique and daring to use "ugly" elements to create a playful and crazy feel that fits their content excellent. I thank you for your comment, but please do not refer to a "stylegala-context", because we decide what that is. And it is what you see.

This site actually rocks, and I'm glad to have come by it. As for eboy, I was into the pixel art thing but it is getting old - again.

Oh... sorry about that.

I think it is quite lovely; I am slightly alarmed by a train of thinking that suggests that XHTML validity requires pastel/metal/dropshadows and bland layouts. The result is a lot of very technically assured work which differs very little and web practitioners with a slightly cliquey attitude to those who stray. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, I have a cold.
