Review:
The overall look of the site, leads one to think that the sites design may have indeed been created on construction paper and that mock-up scanned in. More than likely though, the designers dug deep into their photoshop "trick-bag" of brushes and plug-ins to create the carefree digital surrealistic look.
The layout comprised of two major exstensive sections, the header and footer starkly contrast one another. Yet both seem to be sharing the common gray paper-like background, with the footer section having a wide brush stroked, dark gray texture. Giving the footer the look of an artistically rendered driftwood paneling.
The extensive header potion of the page resembles a gray fibrous paper, complete with coffee stains.
The header takes up various portions of the screen depending on the layout for that page, giving a variety of "looks" to the site. Pages with extended headers have two trees on the lower right, illustrated in abstract, with the roots of those trees extending as dotted-lines with arrows into the footer portion. Creating a certain connectivity & symmetry to the information in the header & footer, and creating a unified theme of growth + structure, albeit "".
The background for content when it is shown in the header section uses transparency to allow the background image to show through, grunging up things nicely.
The "Pulpsters" have done themselves proud with this new earthy realigned-redesign. The site exudes a certain amount of cheerful charm & color, while focusing on just what ElectricPulp does, and does quite well. "They build websites that make you smile."

Designing with Web Standards
Finally something truly inspiring. Top notch!
I'm always draw to sites that use old paper and water colour effects in the design. I think it's because we have such a physical connection to paper and tend associate it with tangible objects. It's a great way to generate some atmosphere and soften that tech feel that many websites get stuck with, in this case making the site feel comfortable and organic. Well done Electric Pup.
I particularly like the inspired 'team' section. The aesthetic presentation of the photographs fit perfectly with the design. Other little touches, such as the JavaScript-enhanced contact form are nice too. Great addition to SG :)
I've enjoyed their sites for awhile. Glad to see that a local company in Sioux Falls is being featured.
i guess i'm the only one that thinks this site is just so-so. i like the thought behind it, just not the over all execution. perhaps it's that i don't feel they took it far enough. also, there seems to be an over use of boxes that kind of ruins it for me. it's not bad, just not great.
Thanks for the attention. It's great fun seeing this, and we appreciate the feedback. We threw a lot of branding out the window when we redesigned. This one feels good / fits us well.
A truly great website, I have to say. Especially the team page. Top notch!
Great concept and superb execution. Unfotunately now I have to abandom building my portfolio site with construction papers. Or atleast rethink it.
I like the background body image and the overall look and feel. Very inspiring. The navigation at the top looks not as good as the rest of the site.
