Review:

Triple play! Three sites in one. Exozet has what appears to be a sort of file folder type separation of the three tiers of their site. A very clean lined streamline design works well to keep the user unconfused when switching from partition to partition. All relevant elements are in their place and do not move around the page, the menu is where I expect it to be and shows different sub info while maintaining its top most structure.

The side bar in each section has interesting banners that take you to additional info on the site. The identity of the company is reinforced while not getting in the way or screaming for too much attention in a couple different place. The use of bread crumbs helps you navigate within each menu sub-section. The attention to visual detail is very nice, padding has been used prodigiously and lets the site breathe.

The color palette is muted with sharp contrasting colors in the side bar and and images, giving this an inviting feel. Soft almost pastel colors highlight each partition of the site and are also used well to help guide the user about the various areas. There are a few errors in the code as far as semantics goes, for example using breaks in conjunction with list items, but running this site through your validator shows that they took a very close look at the getting their code in order having almost 90 percent of the pages validating.

My only gripe is the use of and non use of external javascript files to deploy the behaviors of the site. I'm sometimes guilty of the same thing - having 5 or 6 js files in the header, where most are from different contributors in the community - but I believe for better practical purposes only a couple of js files should be connected and as much as can be should be put in the external file. All in all this site is most impressive if not for being boldly different, then for being slightly different very well.

Excellent simplistic design with great use of grid for layout. Nice choice!

Interesting site layout. But the navigation is not easy to understand: the left tabs change as you click on them, so clicking twice on the same tab does not display the same page. The tabs titles are very small, and are too light to be easily readable, especially on reddish or blue background.

The layout breaks as soon as you increased font size: text is partly hidden below images and some misalignment occur.

Absolutely brilliant selection. The use of grid here is incredible, as is the way photography has been heavily used to keep the content a more visual "pull". Love it!

I love the site, but my first annoyance crept up very quick.

The tabs on the left side don't focus based on their original locations which instantly confused me and made me think the website wasn't working properly.

I guess I should also mention there are a few spacement issues as well. The breadcrumb spacing doesn't match from section to section.

The navigation within some of the L2's also seems confusing. They react like tabs, but have no visual reference to a tab other than color change. Not the expected reaction from the link at all given the response of the content. The main link's pink color also seems off in relation to the content's also pink colored links of the same size and weight.

Some links (not all) suffer from the ability to identify themselves correctly. Meaning they don't have consistent styles of other links within the site (as they do not have underlines by default, so must maintain similar styles to compensate).

I love the design, but the site is much more confusing to navigate than it should be.

I like the colors, the navigation is simple and very easy to understand. This is a very well thought out website and a great pick. My only issue with the site is how when you click the tabs they don't stay in the same place. Each tab moves to the top and if you aren't paying attention you won't know it was clicked. But that is a minor issue that is over shadowed by the great design and layout.

I haven't noticed tabs until I've read about them in stylegala's comments.

I've checked them - they don't make sense! If I click middle blue tab, it doesn't seem to be brought forward - background doesn't change to blue... acutually blue is gone, order of tabs changes...

this navigation is a total failure for me.

I saw this one a few weeks ago at csselite (http://www.csselite.com/showcase/clean/exozet-interact.html). Absolutely love the design. The tabs did throw me off a little bit though. Very nice overall!

If they fixed those sections tabs, it'd be prefect... luv the logo, luv they have a local office here in Zagreb.

Mmmm... I'm going to go against popular opinion here and say that I feel the site is distinctly average, from both a design, and build perspective. I'm not flaming here, just trying to provide constructive criticism. Also, I have not my site as I don't have one (yet).

Design: I DO like the grid and how they have four equal columns.. makes all the elements seem nicely sized and placed with respect to adjacent elements. Another feature I like is the liberal use of photography, which jazzes up the design and makes it very eye-catching (especially at odds with the muted palette). However, I feel they have used too many shades of gray, and that the colour decisions seem a tad ad hoc, as opposed to being selected from a strict palette.

Other nitpicks would be the navigation on the left. Whilst I applaud the unconventional approach, it's a half-baked implementation of a tabbed navigation, and as aforementioned, the links don't stay in the same place, nor come into focus on the page

commentat 14:42 on 16 August 2006, Andy Beeching wrote:

...they actually link to (in fact the tab simply disappears). Also on the vertical navigation (top left), I feel the decorative arrows imply there should be a drop-down menu on :hover. The difference between current page, and the rest of the links could be made a bit more obvious.

Build: Yes it validates, but so do sites that still use tables for layout. There is hardly any effort to make a meaningful document structure here. H1, H2 anyone? IMO there are also way to many hard-coded images, many of which could be deemed decorative in nature, and those that are hard-coded are missing width & height attributes. Try turning off images and the layout simply collapse (FF 1.5, XP). There's a ton of inline JS (in their favour this is tracker code but still), CSS, and the code suffers from both divitis & classitis.

In sum this is a nice site on first impressions but dig a little deeper and there are flaws, all of which are easily fixable with a bit of effort by the developer. 5/10

Nice clean site but a little cluttered and overloaded with contents and different colors, therefore also hard to read. The eyes are struggling as there are several striking eye catchers on the frontpage. The changes of colours also confuse me a little.

Anyways I still like that site.

Perfect design, especially the left side menu column, I suppose it is build on Sitellite CMS. Only good comments, nothing more.
