Review:
It was a close call this one. The flash menu is not exactly standard in any way, but since had the good taste of adding a normal xhtml menu for people without flash installed, I guess it works for me. I really like the unique colors on this site and the fact that they change for each section. The side borders gives the site a nice hand crafted look and complements the wheathered book style in a nice way. Maybe they are over-using diagonal lines on this design and Im still not convinced about the flash menu... but the overall experience is nice.

really nice and original, good use of colours IMHO....
I am not a big fan of flash headers... but overall a really good job!
Well the site looks great but the flash header... If someone doesn't have flash.. then what? then they are unable to navigate through the site? This site looks great but isn't usable for people with disabilities or people without flash. I think flash is good but try to think about usability a bit more. That's what designing with webstandards is about... just my two cents ;-)
shifty: did you read my review? Try viewing the site without flash and find a nifty xhtml menu instead.
I've read your review but when I viewed it in firefox without styles I couldn't find any xhtml menu. So I probably got it wrong. Then I'll take my words back ;-) As I said, this is a good looking site!
did you view the page without styles or without flash?
I don't get a xhtml menu either when I turn flash off -- but I assumed that's because I'm on a Mac. Safari, Opera, Firefox -- all push flash to the forefront, and if there is no flash but flash intended, the empty space is in the forefront too, just lacking a movie. Always thought you PC guys get something different from what I heard:)... but no menu for me either...

Yeah I see what you mean, I viewed it without styles but with flash. Someone with disabilities probably doesn't have flash installed so they will be able to navigate through the website. Good alternative. Still I think that it's someway against the webstandards because you offer alternatives and it should be one xhtml page for everyone, if you understand what I mean. Good job though :-)
I understand perfectly, thats why this was a close call and that Im not all convinced about the flash thing. However, since they at least added a xhtml alternative I decided to feature the site anyway.
The diagonals make the text hard to read - overused a tad.
I don't see what the big deal is about the flash header. Flash has over a 90-percentile install base (they claim) and good, balanced Flash-to-XHTML design is hard to come by.
It's also a key design trait (as seen by Neubix's other sites and also on Ryan Sim's personal website). I think it shows both originality and creativity, while still adhering to standards. I applaud their work.
The usual gripe with flash is that it is not handicap accessible, which is true. So using flash for an animation or a movie is fine, but for actual content can be a major problem (with the new exception being Flash text replacement) -- but serving up an alternate text based navigation saves this one.
I would like the lyrics for the songs; I ecspecially want God's Law lyrics. The church I go to uses you for confermation classes.
oh plz god save us from those fuckin marketing oriented christians...
