Review:

Someone noted over in the news section that this site would show up in the Gallery, and indeed it has.

If the Stylegala-ers haven't noticed by now, this site appeals to my personal sense of style, but in light of a discussion over at Whitespace today I am striving to be super-objective.

Upon arriving at folietto, the viewer is greeted by a vibrant blue palette and clean type choices which gives a light and airy feel to the site. There are splashes of color on the home page to draw the eye across and down the page.

The bitmap fonts on the showcase graphic and the location of the global navigation are my only negative views of the homepage. And is it just me, or are we seeing a lot of those star-burst elements lately?

The details that are present are very appealing. The layered paper effect underneath the logo directly applies to the what the company does (applying graphics to autos, I think:). And take a look at the contact form... Clever use of CSS on the submit button with the rounded corner appearing to originate from the form field. The clouds background image is a nice subtle touch also.

I can't comment on the content much because of the language barrier, but everything seems to be organized well and the navigation is simple and to-the-point. And that reminds me of more details... Check the hover action on the background image of the navigation and the fact that the section title graphics align to their corresponding button in the nav.

The subpages are very consistent and present the content very clearly. Markus delivers fairly clean code that doesn't suffer heavily from div-itis. And of course, it validates...

So, how was my objectivity? Let the "objective" voting begin... :)

The mark-up is so clean I could eat off it. I don't even care what the site is about, and to be fair it doesn't matter - it's beautiful.

Only a 6? Are all designers just jelous? Seems like even GREAT sites cant get about the 7 mark. This site is at the very minimum an 8. I give it a 9.2

I gave it a 7 cos i can barely read some of the texts on that site, specifically, the address at the top of the page, the blue text to the left of the car, and the pre-filled content in the textfields of the contact form.

Otherwise a VERY nice site!

Did anyone notice the rollover effect on the main nav? Im still trying to figure out how this helps the viewer make a nav decision. Seems to be a little unnecessary. Otherwise a beautiful site.

EXTREMELY impressive. I agree that the bg image that comes up when you roll over the nav is a bit unneccesary. This site is fantastic, though. Very clean code, as mentioned above.

superb. 7 points.

I happen to like the rollover effect on the main nav, even though this doesn't help the viewer make a nav decision. It doesn't distract either.

But:

Try increasing text size! Seen the awful effect? The page shows you the "hidden" text-content in a very disturbing way! In fact, don't ever try to increase the font size!!! Why does the developer not let users decide the size of their fonts. I can't actually read anything, although i'm a native German-Speaker, because it's sooo small! Text replacement in flowing text isn't really a good thing!

Also, the site seems to lack some "alt" or "title" tags, that should be corrected ...

But the rest of the page - the design - is very well done. A good 7 from me!

Great design!

Love 4:

- everything :)

- special ++ for menu bg on hover!

No love 4:

- those 5 thumbnails... something bothers me with that and im not sure what... maybe lower right cut with all that bendings + "wrong flat" perspective in photos?

Whatever... Good job!

Cheers.

I like so much this website...

The only things that I don't like is the title in green over the blue background... It's don't look very well...But, it's only an observation...

Anyway, congratulations Markus Stefan!! It's a good job! ;)
