Review:
It’s all in the details. And the details is just what Marius Roosendaal website has. The site isn’t flashy, there’s no need to be. The site isn’t filled with fluff. It’s just his portfolio. But what you’ll find is that this site has that little extra something that sets it apart.
Like I said before it’s all in the details. The major one being the two different styles you can view the site in. One style being the day view while the other is night. What particularly stuck out to me were the colors schemes for each view. The Day view uses a nice cream with accents of red and blue and the green to highlight the portfolio piece. It’s a very welcoming color scheme. The night view doesn’t stray far from the same approach. Using mostly shades of brown with accents of red gives a nice “homey” feel.
Another aspect that I also enjoy is that it’s a one-page site with everything you need to know about the site easily displayed. Now some might not find the “night version” very accessible since since the contrast is not very high. But the option to switch the styles is always available.
But like I said in the beginning, the site isn’t flashy or shiny or big. It’s a beautiful site with just the right touch that really makes it great. While you’re there, check out Marius’s portfolio he’s a very talented designer.

Designing with Web Standards

Very nice...very nice use of javascript, style sheet switcher is quick...design is good...definitely a very nice web design portfolio site...kudos.
Love the fashionable textures and colors and site just looks slick and clean. The font size is a little dated because users now demand bigger more readable text and re-sizing text breaks the "Change theme now" icons.
The dynamic layers are slicker than Flash, really love them. They could do with being able to keyboard navigate them for users such myself who don't want mouse RSI or mobility impaired users.
Oh what it is to be torn. I absolutely love the colors, textures, typography, and subtle roll overs. It's clean, and slim. The lack of navigation doesn't work for all sites, but does perfectly on this one. Major kudos for the design.
And now for the other half of that torn "self" I mentioned. Sure I'm one the few, but definately not the only - who will/has had this problem viewing the site. I'm not sure why, and I don't care to trouble shoot it, but the Mootools doesn't seem to work. Is it my browser, settings, firewall? Who knows, but the point is, it doesn't work - for me. No degrading, no... well nothing. If I were to google the project names I'm sure I'd see the work, and I'm sure they would be pretty darn impressing, but the fact is. On this site, it doesn't work, and for that reason, I'm left upset, fustrated, and torn.
To love a design, but to hate it's lack of functionality. Should that be addressed some time soon, I'd have little if anything to truly comp
I like the colours and overall feel of the site. The dropdown portfolio section works really well. A good job.
Very nice. The portfolio section degrades well. And in terms of just usability I found this to be one of the better portfolio presentations I've seen. Also the use of textures is well done. I would have like to be able to access more information on the projects than just a lightbox enlarged image though.
No longer torn. From another computer, all is well, and I'm glad I checked again. The use of color is absolutely awesome. Textures remain top notch.
I can't vouch for the degrading, because as I mentioned earlier it did not work at all for me before. But all is well now, a great job indeed.
great idea; the to colour themes!
love it
Nice use of colors. Very relaxing.
great idea; the to colour themes!
A day colour and a night colour, what a good idea.
I dont't think that's a good idea, I think it's much more better. I love it
