Review:

"The design is so stripped down that the bare minimum is used to make the design work and if one of those elements was missing, it would fall apart." -quote by Submitter

I have to agree wholeheartedly. And that is exactly what attracts me to this site. In a word, balance; in three words, function over form.

Possibly we are becoming accustomed to the color palette. The typography is spot-on, a great use of Helvetica. There is a great delineation of information, I am able to quickly access the main sections of the site and there are some nice interface details on the portfolio detail pages.

Now I am sure we will get some "creativity" comments on this one, but let me suggest beforehand that inspiring design is about communication and goals. Mark's message is clear and the design satisfies *his* goals. And being pleasing to look at is a by-product of the former.

Love the cleanliness, the typo stuff, the colors (although maybe a little too light for my personal likings...)

Very slight resemblance to a Jon Hicks site, but not enough to go "he copied from Jon Hicks!!". Probably just a coincidink.

It's cool. Great job!

Thanks for the entry and the constructive comments. It's just a shame "Apple" green is everywhere - maybe it's time to change the colours!

I really can't see why this site won so many awards, it's not that i think it's that bad, it's just not that good. The idea is fairly good but the execution is poor.

Nice site, simple, clear and very transparent. The green is also nice. Actually, I'm not for the absolutely minimalist solutions like this, but I would agree with the reviewer, that the design satisfies the author's goals.

And I can't agree with the previous commenters. Maryli, I can't see any similarity to the TeamScience site. I think you're too suspicious and picky here.

And Jason, what's so “poor” about the realization of the “good” idea? Don't see what you mean here.

This site proves that you don't need images or eye candy to look good or communicate well. Its perfectly balanced and easy to read. A real breath of fresh air.
