Review:

Our favourite browser pimp mozilla has gone standard and done a redesign of their massize site mozilla.org. One of the most interesting features are the use of em in the layout instead of pixels, thus making the whole site resize according to the text size. The design is what you would expect from a company like this - easy to use, pleasing to watch and some nice & clear colors. While you are there, make sure to grab a copy of if you havent done that yet.

The design is nice. But xhtml could have been used instead of HTML 4.01

I love Firefox... Too bad they haven't checked the new site in Opera, because it doesn't work as it is supposed to. I wouldn't expect people from Mozilla designing a site just for one browser... Better fix it soon guys.

It's a nice site, but I don't think it's a vast improvement over the past one. It may be structured more pleasantly to find information, but the design is mediocre, and nothing groundbreaking for firefox. It is not high end design, and from an old print designers perspective, not unique. That being said, I think their browser is anything but ordinary.

Old printer designer eh... well no wonder you don't like it. I like it. It's simple, clean, fast, and does the job. Software sites like this shouldn't be extravagant. Simplicity is king.

Print Designer/web designer -- 7 years experience in both. I agree simplicity is great, I never argued against it, and I don't think high end design has to be extravagant; I never said that, and anyone who thinks that probably doesn't have a design background.

Minimalist is a beautiful look, but this doesn't have a minimalist and simplistic design method that's unique. This is the same problem they've suffered for years - poor marketing/identity. Just because it's Mozilla doesn't make

looks quite good, and like before simply a good css file.

but somehow i liked the old color more.

Why is the site so highly rated? Because it IS Mozilla? The code is bad, the usability is bad, it breaks in IE6 as well as in FireFox. It looks like it is in staging mode. Nope a very low score would fit mozilla.org

Everybody has an opinion. Thank you for sharing yours (even though I don't agree).

I think it is way too dull for their profile. They need to give the visitor a positive feeling of the product and this new colorscheme does not do that.

The layout is indeed mediocre but not ugly at all. It sort of lacks personality though and feels unpolished. Like a very early sketch of what to come...

It does not work well with the firefox/mozilla colorscheme which has more red/orange/warm colors.

I believe it is built in HTML 4 so that it would function and display properly in older browsers, such as Netscape 4 or IE 4. The goal for most of the site is to have people download the Mozilla software: not kick them out because they are using old technology. XHTML is not well-supported in the dinosaur-ware.
