Review:
ReductoStart is a Romanian website with the purpose of informing the population about the risks posed by overweight while also offering solutions for the correct prevention and treatment of this condition.
The design is definitely fresh and unique, emphasizing the friendly and comprehensive manner in which a serious subject is approached. The graphic interface is adapted to the target audience, for whom the weight problem is perceived as a lifestyle problem. Curvy lines and a warm color palette contribute to the overall impression of the design while breaking away from the boxed look of most other websites, especially those dealing with such serious healthcare subjects.
The code is fairly clean with just some minor quirks most probably due to the content management system. Font-increase should have been better supported especially with such an information-heavy website. Nevertheless, the overall impression and information structure is very good.
Definitely a fresh look that stands out from other websites and blends very well with the website’s targeted audience and purpose.

I don't like how when you hover over something, everything underlines...
I really like the funky shaped boxes and the illustrations. Too bad I don't understand a word of it.
It is definatelya breath of fresh air and a clear departure from mainstream wesbsite designs.
Not only are the boxes smoothly rounded, they are also dimensionally skewed, which really adds to the averall design positively. I have two issues with the design though.
First, if you resize fonts, things get out of shape especially in Firefox.
Secondly, you could hardly make out the text fields. A non-web savvy person would have hard time finding them. Otherwise an excellent job really. Congratualtions to the designs for this superb job.
Again, a good design work from my country, i like the idea. The site i've seen a few days ago, and i got to say that i was impressed, anyway Grapefruit have a good reputation in Romania, at list inside of Designers World, outside i don't now.
Anyway the site is cool. I say that because i love websites build with illustrations inside.
(sorry for my bad english)
I really like the graphics, but without knowing Romanian, it looks like it's too much information at one page.
It is definitely a fresh design. They took a new approach to the "popout" styles that overlay their container...it's a bit disconcerting at first, but I like that they tried something new.
The code isn't too bad although I don't know why it's redirecting to an IP.
Glad to see more international exposure. I also don't like how the text underlines when hovered over, however it is a very fine crafted site.
Nice. I agree with the other fans of the irregular boxes and shapes. I hate the boxed look that came with desktop publishing and webdesign.
Compared to the overall layout the body text is pretty boring, could use subheadlines in funky colours and a interesting type.
Cheers!
bartosz, i have to say that was the best critique/feedback i EVER heard here on Stylegala. (sarcasm).
anyways, i love the use of colors and shapes. it gives everything a nice balance. love the illustrations, too - it gives some "life" to it.
Yeah, I was in a hurry. :)
And it looks like that's only Safari's problem. In firefox it works just fine.
Yeah, the colours and irregular boxes give the website a new, fresh look.
It's good to see romanian guys appreciated.
Looks nice. Cannot judge how usable it is however because i cannot understand a word of it.
Indeed, an interesting approach but if you look at the markup things don't look too bright!
Thumbs up tough for the fresh look!
I agree, it is good to see romanian guys appreciated. If we could get some more Tongans appreciated round here then this world would really change for the better.
Nice, fresh design. Clean and the illustration work gives it some style. As mentioned, just a little font resizing makes the site unusable and I dislike the reliance on text as an image.
I have to agree with Jonathan here. The site looks great but it falls off on text-resizing (UX Magazine anyone?) and it relies too much on images for text. It also has a lot of Javascript, especially in the login form. Another issue is the input boxes, they are very creative but lack padding.
And what's with using an IP address for the site? Is that a mistake?
It kind of reminded me of old designs, instead of going forward, I felt like rolling back to :
http://www.birthdayalarm.com/Default.jsp
Nice design, but can you tell me please what CMS this website is based? Wordpress? I'm just looking for nice CMS. All websites listed in stylegala are very nice, and i'm interested to know which CMS they use, please email me
I love the use of illustration - especially on a sensitive topic like this where photos would not be as suitable. And the whole design has a real illustrational feel about it with the asymetrical borders around the content, etc. Another feature I love about the site is the weight vs. height scale on the home page, a really nifty quick little feature.
It seems from the illos that Romania is populated by skinny dark haired women and one male doctor ;)
Seriously though, I don't read Romanian and maybe the text explains that the site is aimed at women. But the graphics make the site look like it's aimed at women. The stylegala review above says that the site is "...informing the population..." If you want to include men then maybe some blokes in the cartoons might help.
Design is OK, but I don't like implementation - There's too much text as images. I prefer my system's font smoothing.
Some things look broken in Opera 9.
Neither StyleGala and Andrew understood the target of this site. For those who don't understand the language do not make any presumption or affirmation. And F.Y.I., this site offers solutions for those overweighted and "horizontaly chalenged" people, diets and healthy nutrition programs.
On the other hand, this site reveals the power of east european design school. Great job, guys!
This site is not up to standards. It falls apart if I bump the text size up, and there are too many images with text that could have been html or image replacement.
I agree with Jared. When I first saw it I was impressed with the non-square text boxes, but when it was revealed have was just images I was like man.....
Would have liked to see more of a semantic, code based solution but its certainly nice and light!
This is one of the more visually impressive sites I've seen lately.
Nicely Done.
some retro designer, some juxtinteractive.com like style. not new, with some problem, a b-.
Maybe it's something in the water, but Romanians seem to have an unusually strong talent for design and branding.
I've been following Grapefruit for years, and they've done it yet again. Amazing work.
It's an average site with some nice drawings. I'm not realy impressed. Maybe I'm just a little spoiled with previous websites.
It's a interesting view. maybe isn't the coolest site, but is a good design and a good development (is a common site for Grapefruit).

There is no east european design school, Diz. :)
this is amazing.
comments about amazing work on stylegala about a website which is neither standards compliant, nor projecting a correct image about who it is addressed to.
you realize that we are not looking at some website comming from a 15 year old. they actually are a major player -- biggest, i think -- in digital branding in romania. they used deprecated tags and proprietary markup, for pete's sake!
then again, those are for dorks, not for grepfruit design. i mean, they used pretty shapes, after all. i'm sure that counts for... like... i dunno... umm... anybody?
yea.. I like this. someone from stylegala with some background in grapefruit make some advertising for them. Conflicts of interest? where is the "submission guidelines" when... "a website which is neither standards compliant, nor projecting a correct image about who it is addressed to"
you know? i was actually wondering, seeing how the website has no actual human URL, if it's a publicity stunt. i mean, if style gala isn't good neighbourhood according to google, than i don't know which is.
so: produce the website, get incredible incoming links and you have an effortless campaign. i know it sounds speculative, but hey! makes some sense.
i'd actually like some kind of feed-back on this, but i think i'm a week late.
nevermind
nice website. i like the idea of using irregular box shape, even though this means they had to use ony images to build up the boxes.
the overall look and feel greatly fits the purpose of this website.
The layout is breaking on some pages on Opera 9. Keep up the good work ;)
Superb site and extraordinary CSS – I would well like to make the similar for my site Katalog Firm but this will not be so simple the website has new, fresh look – that's right what I need.
