Review:
The Shopify site makes splendid use of a color scheme. The warm and inviting trio of foreground colors, along with the dark navy blue background make a great color medley contrast that plays nicely together. In fact the entire site is anything but monochromatic.
Shopify appears to be synonymous with simplify, by design. The Pre-sign up Shopify website offers ease of use that is not commonplace nowadays. The only small qualm I have is that the Quicktime screencasts were done at too high of a screen resolution to properly fit in my 1024 x 768 browser window, which resulted in some scrolling to try and keep up.
“Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.” —Charles Mingus

I forgot to comment towards a couple things in the review.
The shopify shopping cart itself is reported to be built on the Ruby-on rails platform, and visiting the shopping cart sites of several of the Shopify users, an amazing amount of those sites are validating code ...which doesn't go un-noticed around here.
Small touches, such as the toggling visibility login form make this site quite a joy to use. I love it!
kiss! colorscheme is great. navigation/usability is easy and clear... overall a great job!
It was hard for me to read the text over the red background, nice design otherwise.
