The latest nightly builds of Safari have built-in SVG support, including text rendering.

I just downloaded this build, and it works well. The only thing that I don't like is that it causes my iMac G5 to spool up it's fans till it sounds like a hair dryer...

The HUD-like element browser is pretty cool too. I hadn't played with it yet.
