As web director for my company, I started implementing ajax in our corporation over the summer. It has tremendoulsy helped us build more intuitive intranets for us.

how realistic is this, especially given that most companies don't even ensure that their site's are standard? could it mean a new era of ajax for the sake of ajax, adding an extra layer of messiness on top of already filthy code?

why the doom sayer? simply saying companies are going to move more to ajax web apps doesnt mean that its going to be crap code underneath or ajax for ajax sake. and so what if it is? all trends have to run their 'push every button' course before its then reexamined and falls neatly into its place,. much like what flash is on the down hill side of now.

not quite doom saying, just playing the odds. any advances made with ajax on corporate sites and intranets, at least at this stage of the game, will most likely be at the expense of making their sites standards compliant and accessible.
