stop with the self promotion . god damn it. this is not news of any sort, just another attempt at raising your SEO. keep this kinda SH46 in the forums.
news is> adome bought macromedia
news is> a new design team was just formed the likes of the gren giant
news is> some very suable javascript library has been released
news is> there is a conference coming up next month
news is not> a link to your blog
news is not> a link online portfolio
news is not> I read this and think you should too (post in forum, thats whys it's there)
dutifully written by the 'prevent news spammer curmugeon'
I don't know, David; I read it, I enjoyed the article, I'm happy it was posted here. I also have no problem with sites being promoted by their author just so long as the sites happen to be something meaningful. The public news here can be both a blessing to those who post useful things and a curse to those who post useless things: When one posts an article or their personal blog or something that is uninteresting to Stylegala readers, it may as well be a black-mark against that site for the rest of its existence.
So yeah, I think that it's more than okay for the public news to be just that: public.
and i totally agree with you Phil, I did read the article and got a kick out of it, only from my understanding this was not the intedned use of the public news feature.. i dont know. Im not mad or anything, I just feel that its very subjective what news is, and to me ( my opinion ) it should be design related but pertaining to something interesting happing in the design community, not just the musings( good or bad ) or anyone who wants to post there.
for example. I am a designer. I wrote an article about becoming more standards compliant. should i be able to post that here as a standards advocate. I dont know how important my article is to the community at large.
but -for example- my article would be very well placed in the forum on this site for all to read in the say, general design threads. thats all.
