After doing some investigation, it appears that the Urchin software is still available, and they still plan on releasing Urchin 6 (http://www.google.com/analytics/urchin_software.html).

However, this new Analytics solution, though still javascript based (since I don't have a google account, I couldn't tell you more about it), will probably have WebTrends and others a little nervous.

An amazing tactic by Google to promote their adwords and whatnot, but if I was a competitor to urchin I'd be polishing my resume right about now.

Any additional thoughts?

I signed up. They are not taking new apps right now though - they'll send you a link in your email when you can activate your account. Urchin 6 was a totally web-driven tool - you signed into your acct on Urchin.com and used it from there. I'm sure that's what they are using as Google Analytics right now.

Ive been using Google Analytics for about a week now and ive been pretty impressed. I do think they need to add Safari support though. Switching to another browser everytime I want to see some stats is annoying..

Addendum: il Site Overlay sembra essere stato disabilitato. In effetti quando l’avevo provato su un layout CSS mi aveva dato problemi (non aveva caricato il CSS).

Addendum: Site Overlay has been disabled. When I tested it on a CSS HTML layout site, there were some problems (no CSS was applied).
