Expression Engine

Not so sure about the quality of this one but it seems there is a new Blog/CMS tool out. It's said to be on the competitive level with Movable Type and Wordpress. I guess only time will tell.

A new blogging tool? New? Hardly...Expression engine has been out for 8 months now and is only the latest build/verison of pMachine which has been around for years.

pMachine was the pick of the litter for me - a extremely rich feature set and super designer friendly. Expression Engine moreso - however it wasn't released as freeware, you gotta pay, but for sommercial projects it is unbeatable. Far more friendly to designs, user management, etc than Wordpress. The only opensource that comes close is Textpattern in my book.

It's actually been available, widely used, and ably competing since Feb 2004.

It is by far the best CMS tool available anywhere.

Expression Engine is the cat's pajamas. I recently downloaded the Core version to test it out and instantly knew that this was the system for me. I bought it later that day to use on a client project and will be using it for my company's site. In fact there is no other choice in my opinion for someone looking to graduate from blog-oriented CMS's to a high quality publishing platform.

I've been using EE for almost 2 years now. It is a great piece of software which I was more than happy to switch from MovableType for. For designers it is incredibly flexible in its templating system and does more right out of the box than any other CMS software (that I have tried).

i moved ago 2 years from wordpress to expressionengine and i must say: i love ee :-)

I have to fully agree with the positive comments here!

I'm a fierce EE advocate, to this date I've worked with systems that will run your bill into the 100k level.

Some of them have been truly brilliant, but I have yet to find a true competitor to EE in terms of easy deployment and customizabillity.

Free scripts like WP will get you started for nill,

however the time required to achieve the customization that EE handles from start is very seldom worth it.

Also, the support offered in the pMachine forum is second to none.

I swear Rick and Paul must (the EE developers) see something that other people don't because one try with EE and you will never look at another publishing system.
