Sure it is a news :). Ryan's design is always something of great pleasure to watch and learn, even if it's just a simple splash page. I love his new self-absorbing splash page :P

He inspired a lot of us and Greg, even your previous sixminutes.ca design is

Haha! Nice one Liz :)! It's great when the past comes back to bite you in the ass (sort of). I'll admit that my previous -- and very, very short-lived -- incarnation had a few things in common w/ Ryan's classic blue & red JWTS design but I'd like Stylegala's humble readers to know that once I realized the similarities between the two I dumped the design and threw together the crap that's there now. So that's that.

Besides, my initial post regarding this news item had nothing to do w/ whether or not Simms' work has inspired others -- that's a given, isn't it? What I was saying, and what I still believe, is that the news item is not in fact news, per se. A change of content such as an interesting blog post, a major announcement etc, can indeed be deemed "news" but in this case I think the change is too trivial to be called so. It's not news it's a new splash page.
