• No advertising - not even if your site validates. None.

• No free / gratis posts about some pyramid game you are stuck in.

• No personal posts. Not even if your sister plays tuba.

• English only. And prepare your post with a spell and grammar check.

• Link directly to the source, not via your site

You're an asshat and just acted like an asshat.

Graphic designer is the least you can say. Awesome work. If you succeed in not only designing something that looks pretty, but also has character, you contribute to a better world in my opinion, because you enhance the way people experience things. That us exactly what you did. 5*

I agree 100% that this is not public news but calling someone an asshat.

BigA it is people like you who help drag down this site. This site is supposed to be for professional or aspiring web designers, your ridicules comment makes the site seem young and immature. If you want to run off at the mouth do it on your blog.

You're a Graphic Designer and have divitis.

I'm hungry, and I just had a snickers! Oops, I forgot news like this isn't appropriate for this part of stylegala - next time post in the forums :). I have to say that's a tasty portfolio...but my snickers was sweeter. I think I'll indulge in a pack of skips now.

The portfolio is great. However shane has still broken the posting rules.

Wow, tough crowd. Apologies for posting here. I wasn't aware there was a forum, now I know - thanks.

Thank you though for the nice comments Bert and dblake. And also apologies for those sad people who feel they need to diss others in order to make themselves feel better. :-( Your "asshat-ness" shines through.

Maybe that's what the forums are for, but could there not just be a column set up for people to submit their work for critique and review without getting jumped?

this is some nice work, for sure, but the discussion that's been engaged by it is pretty much in regards to posts telling the guy not to post his work here, and posts telling the person who told the guy not to put his work here that he's an asshat, and posts telling the guy who called the guy an asshat childish.

c'mon guys. couldn't we just politely usher this guy and his very nice work to a part of the site more appropriate for this kind of thing, tell him its nice work, and continue making this site worth reading? it's a flame war a week, lately.

The Nick Drake covers were nice, though

jlactose - exactly, thank you.

Ryan - Divitis? I never claimed I was a "Web Designer".

Fcuk the haters! That's some lovely work. I'm glad it was posted here or I might not have seen it.

commentat 01:30 on 21 March 2006, G3 wrote:

I can't believe my post featuring works by legitimate well respected members of the design community was taken down, but this obvious self promotion is still here. There is no justice. She must be tangled up in all his divs...

On another note - David, can you add a few more characters to the email input box? My regular email address doesn't fit :(

commentat 01:41 on 21 March 2006, Josh wrote:

Wow, this is why I think i'm going to stop reading the public news (or maybe subconsciously it keeps me coming back). I am no authority, but please post this stuff in the forum.

This is good work, and using obscenities and blasting people is only going to cause problems, not promote good design.

Although perhaps divitis applies seeing that this is a "publication about WEB DESIGN and standards".

we wher just discusssing the term divitius on snook's site, i wonder who coined the term?

very nice art on that site btw/ I think you can generally let people slide if their work is decent. its the slackers that realy get under my noodle.

add those alt tags to your images images though

... oh and post appropriately yada yada yada ... :)

... hmm, suppose this will probably be taken down before anyone reads though ... d'oh

Nice work Shane, glad I got to see it. You're not an asshat. Whatever that is, you're not one ;-)

commentat 16:20 on 21 March 2006, Kyle Talbott wrote:

I want to be an ass hat, sounds fun. If I get to be an ass hat, what's my job description? Hey, can I be an assistant ass-hat to the creative director, Mr. BigA?

Shane, don't sweat it. Nice work.

Oh, and doesn't anyone else see the irony of only posting "news" which is usually only some other's way to self promote. It's just that it's not a portfolio...

Well, I find it ironic.

Granted, I understand and respect the structure that SG has created, that's why I subscribe to the feed but I think that one could be a little more gracious.

commentat 17:24 on 21 March 2006, Fazal Khan wrote:

I agree, there should be a 'critique' portion of the site outside of the forums. It would solve a lot of headaches and talented people like Shane would get to post in peace.

I am now indulging in a red apple with the peel taken off. skips and snickers are off the agenda for today.

Haha Kyle, sounds like you watch The Office too.

I agree, although Stylegala is an awesome site already, it needs a section where all of us can post our work/sites etc...
