I dont understand what that ouch is for Veracon, and maybe to my own ignorance, because that layout is not shown in the html output code and the js file is like 8k, so what am i missing?

I still don't have a clue as to why anybody would go to such a length for rounded corners when you can simply use background images.

Because if you want a flexible layout, and want to keep your css as free from imagery as possible, then nifty corners is a godsend. And it's no great length - include 2 .js files, and add some markup, which you probably already have.

I fully understand the use of nifty corners. If you want rounded corners with pure CSS you can either have 4 extra non-semantic divs around your content, one for each corner, or 3 extra ones if the width isnt going to be flexible.

Or couldnt you create a rounded corner box in Photoshop then size that box using ems in the css. Then you have an expandable rounded corner box. I've never tried it but seems like it would work unless the box gets to be too big it may pixelate a bit but usually .gifs are pretty expandable without the image quality degrading too much especially for a solid colored box.

If I understand you correctly David, Roger Johansson did something like what you're talking about - CSS Teaser Box

Those rounded corners rock, except that... you can't use them on a composition with background images (then it shows the white square down to the applied box). Too bad.
