If you really want a ghost in the machine, why not just browse with Internet Explorer and leave the security settings low? That would be far more scary... ;-)
You folks will be glad to know that OfficePoltergeist is 100% standards complaint. It uses CSS, Ajax, XUL... all that kinda crazy stuff, to work its magic.
Shexy -- it should (at least theoretically) work just fine. Does it throw any errors in the Javascript console?
Sorry... just to follow up, I figured out what was up with the Mac version. Apparently, you've gotta be root to use a port lower than 1024, so on the Mac, OfficePoltergeist now just uses port 13013 instead.
