got damn another beta site, asking for you email address. how about you develop your product, then test it internally, then launch it? beta is not a good thing to flaunt as part of your business repetoire (sp?)

being beta may be all trendy, but for the most part is becoming a worn out fad that people are getting tired of leaving their emails on. my email address is goodness knows where on about 6 'beta' sites that have not released yet.

one site has not released for a year and noone can contact the creators to even get a 'hey guys we closed down the project'.

Calm down dear.

You labelled it beta, not the original poster. It's nothing new for a site to announce their imminent launch with a splash screen and email signup. Even Web 0.4 came with that lovely feature bundled.

This is a public news. While it may be advertising, considering StyleGala's news isn't exactly brimming with regular or original posts they may want to revise their rules.

And you might want to find something better to do.

David,

You should take the time that you spend rambling and fix your site. On your 'Random Works' page, you have 42 60x60 px images that are 146.33 KB a peice (!). Holy! I have broadband and it took me a good minute to load that crapilicious (sp?) page.

commentat 17:17 on 11 May 2006, David B. wrote:

@sb i am not hyped up, telling someone to calm down in not a cop out to so call make that person seem like they dont know what they are talking about. I know the original poster didnt 'label' it beta and i am full well aware of how long that 'lovely feature' has been arround thus my point of saying that its getting old. how about we all go beta, cant buy that new cerial from the store, its still in beta, but leave you phone number and we'll call you when its ready to buy. Real good product marketing there huh?

'And you might want to find something better to do.'

wow. what a hypocitical comment...please if you are going to try to insult someone come a bit better that that. i really dont get it. Are you saying that i have no place on this forum? why else are any of us here?

@Nato! sry you dont like it , but that in no way means my page is broken or unusable and here again you try to distract people from the point of what i said by blowing smoke to my site which is irreleven

commentat 17:21 on 11 May 2006, David B. wrote:

(t) and for the record, i just love how people come in anonymously to leave comments about people. if you have so much of a life why are you here making anonymous comments. why not post under your real name or leave a web address, or an email?

im out here int he open and i guess thats why iam an easy target huh? stop throwing rocks from the shadows and step into the lightif you are going to blast other members of this site.

Gee, what a Kindergarten. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, the first impression is not bad. I like the typography. Good luck on your project. :)

commentat 17:37 on 11 May 2006, Oli wrote:

David, wasn't trying to be 'trendy', email capture is just a nice easy way to market the site once it launches; didn't know marketing was a 'fad'. If it's not your cup of tea, move on.

Ta for the comment maleika.

You're gonna have to repeat the first bit.

You seem to be confusing the beta stage of software development with someone announcing their soon-to-launch website. You said yourself that "I know the original poster didnt 'label' it beta", so why did you say "got (sic) damn another beta site"?

And I don't see anything hypocitical about my comment. Maybe you're confusing that term too?

I'm here to read news. A side effect of that is having to read or skip your (and a few others) constant negative comments on posts that you feel don't belong. I'm sure it's not only me.

Stylegala news doesn't do much for me anyway these days so maybe we'll all be happy when the original posters site launches.

You take care now.

commentat 18:02 on 11 May 2006, David B. wrote:

@sb I dont post constant negavitve comments about sites i dont think belong. please do some reasearch on that. and if that is the only reason you attacked my comment, i'll accept your apology ;)

you guys need to realize and accept that every comment made is not going to ass slaps and congratulations all the time. and you trying to belittle the people who dont like or make 'negative comments' flys in the face what a community is all about.

Oli i wish you well on your project and marketing isnt a fad. and i will enter my email because prior to what you all may believe i do like to read and comment on designer news. I just felt this was another marketing ploy on a site not yet finished. is it not? I hope that it does launch soon and not like other site usiung the same ploy which is why i made my comment.

@maleika

this would not be a Kindergarten if all the kids would play nice;) with those they like and dont like.

this is not news, there is no site, DUMB DUMB DUMB... Stylegala goes from worst to worst each day. wake up admins! your site is going to shit.

commentat 02:37 on 12 May 2006, Andrew wrote:

How about developing the product before selling it. You're not going to win any friends by posting a site that isn't finished.

commentat 08:13 on 12 May 2006, stdmedia wrote:

I believe the entire point of the "beta" page is to create hype. People use it as a subversive marketing tactic, by posting a little link on Stylegala, hundreds of people bear witness to it, thus creating curiousity.

I frankly would love to see what this site is all about, as I hate waiting and can only wonder what they're bringing to the table.

I also truly hope that we may all come to our senses about this negative attitude towards public news. Yes, there's spam and self promotion, but maybe we should tune out the spam and accept it, every one wants to be noticed. Plus, everyonce and a while a post comes up that creates contraversy, take this one for example.

I can go to MSN for beta's and unwarranted hype...that's not what I come to Stylegala for.

commentat 10:11 on 12 May 2006, Ricky Green wrote:

Hmm, If this does'nt result in action against the public news then nothing will.

Also, i don't post alot but i read almost daily post and comments and i have noticed how davidb can be very negative against certain sites.

I also think how you are reacting about critism on your site is childish, fair dues this is'nt the time, and the place would be in the forum but man, come on, take it on the chin and take what they say into account.

Anyway im out, leave you to argue with on and other.

being negative against certain sites, and being negative about all the sites i dont think shoulf be in public news are two very different things and the latter is what i was accused of.

And you need to reread the post about my site and my responce before you go calling it childish. all i said, was sry you dont like it and that doesnt mean my site is unusable. as a matter of fact i have taken what the guy said into account and am in the process of using a script i made to take care of the situation and make thumbnails of the front page to reduce loading.

again please stop trying to make this a David B thing when it is simply you all always wanting to be praised.

I have a thread in the forum about my site make your comments there.

and for whats its worth if you can petition David Hellsing to send me an email saying that i am brusing the community and he doesnt want me here anymore I'll leave. until then can we ALL (myself included) grow up a bit?
