While I sympathize with the pain clients can sometimes be, isn't it unprofessional/in poor taste to complain about clients, no matter how awful, on your professional blog?

You do have a valid point, but I only refer to clients to which I have absolutely no contact with anymore, or so old projects no-one will care.

Furthermore, I am using guest writers as well, to ensure variety, and also not to pick on my own personal clients too much :-)

Whether they are current or former clients it's still in bad taste to bad mouth clients on your blog.

What kind of impression will that make if a potential client sees your blog?

Cheer up, people, it's about stupid clients, they deserve it and nobody gets killed in the process. If i were a potential client and I'd see this, I'd laugh my ass off.
