Optimizing img 4 web

I noticed how many people don't optimize their images properly, which results in extremely slow loading time.

PNG-8's are often a quarter to a third of the size less than the same thing saved as a .gif.

poor article - and i definitely don't mean the poor quality of english (yes, we all know that not everyone is a native english speaker, nor am i). the content is poor. all common knowledge if you are in the slightest means involved in graphics, webdesign, design or similar. no offence, thanks for the effort.

Unneccessarily harsh.

You'd think so, but an awful lot of people don't know or care to know the technical side of optimisation. Especially with the rise of broadband, many people simply stopped caring about optimisation as long as it loads. Or came to web design after the spread of broadband.

It's naive to think that all web designers know to do these things, if all web designers operated on 100% common sense then the web would be a much nicer place to navigate and look at.

Just a thought for you, schnuck - don't you think that this article might be helpfull to non-designers, people that also visit this site? Imagine how many people use premade templates and some free blog app to create their site. Don't you think that they can benefit from this?
