Advertising? You have an awful lot of comments to be leaving if you think this is advertising. In fact, why don't you drop a comment on every post in the public news board. I don't see anyone b*tch when someone posts about new articles on ALA, or anything else, so you can get lost my friend.

The posting rules state pretty well that you should not post items from your own site, i.e. personal advertising. Get that. You'r welcome to post stuff that is not made by you which you discovered and think might be useful for others.

While this may be a Devlounge interview (<3), showcasing Larissa Meek's work is not a Devlounge product. The only reason for the link would be to do the latter, and therefore, I don't feel it's necessarily self-promotion.

The rules say "avoid self promotion" - the exact words - which implies that, if at all possible, you should try not to link to your own site and post your articles, but I feel interviews have a little room within that classification - featuring Larissa's work and achievements. It's like submitting her to the showcase gallery, except with comments and background information.

Also, it's not as if Devlounge is saying "LOOK AT ME I'M DEVLOUNGE, oh, and by the way, this is the cool stuff we've done!" It's more like "We have an interesting interview - check out this cool person!". And please, can we be civil in our comments, Helloagain?

the i see it and many of my couterparts is that what ranjani holds true, if there is a post that simply say "hey look at me" then its generally deleted for instance there was a post reccently about mcville.net having been redesigned, suspiciously looking like it was a self post, so it was deleted by an admin. wheres whenever there is a new interview on that site its generally left posted.

the rule of thumb would be, "if it can help a wide range of others, fine" if its jsut you showing off your wares then it will get deleted.

I couldn't help but notice the nice link to StyleGala on her website :p

I don't see what all the fuss is about. She is a web designer, she has a cool site, and she has been in the public spotlight for some time.
