i read the article, looked at his portfolio, the logos, then shook my head. where is this "thinking outside the box"? what on earth made him think he is in a position to write an “article” on this issue? besides, there is no proof that “aspirational” logos are more “successful” than “literal” ones, or vice versa. the main point of a logo - still - is to be memorable, regardless of design flavors, personal color preferences etc. this article is totally pointless. in other news, the sky is still blue and water is still wet. more luck next time.

I agree with you that there is no proof that “aspirational” logos are more successful than “literal” ones. That is the point of the article. To show the benefits of not being literal and the reasons why I feel it is better, where possible, to consider a logo design from an aspiration point of view. It is just my opinion Tim and I am sorry if you feel that it is pointless.

I believe that most people look at logos as having to be literal and do not consider the reasons for thinking about them differently. Hence the "thinking outside the box" comment.
